Robot will be in family

Yesterday, Chairman of the Alibaba Board Ma Yun predicted at the press conference for the world’s first emotional robot Pepper held in Tokyo, Japan, that “within 30 years there will be a development leap of robot industry.”

Ma Yun believes that ” In the future, as popular as the cars and airplanes, robot will become one part of our families.”

SoftBank Robotics Holdings Corp. (hereinafter referred to as “SBRH) produced the world’s first robot with feelings – Pepper, according to chairman of Softbank, Masayoshi Son, recalled at the scene, when he watched the cartoon “Astro Boy” at the year of five or six years old, he wanted to give the robot a rich emotional mind.

At the same day, Alibaba Group also announced to inject the capital 14.5 billion yen (about ￥730 million) to SBRH, after the investment, Alibaba will hold 20% of the shares of SBRH.

Ma said frankly that, previously he has been discussed for a long time on a lot of issues related to the “robot” with chairman and president of Softbank, Masayoshi Son. The robot will take away people’s job? Can robot commit a rime? Ma Yun believes that, despite such concerns, but it is undeniable that in the future robots will be as ubiquitous as cars and airplanes, meanwhile robots will become a member of our family, so we should conduct the prepare and layout from now on.

According to MaYun, “We are moving towards from the IT era regarding the control as a starting point to the DT (Data Technology) era aiming for activating the productivity.” The key to this transformation process is dependent on big data and Cloud services. Alibaba has a huge advantage in the field of cloud computing and big data, which will provide a strong support for the development of intelligent products and robots.

Ma Yun believes that in the future robots will become more intelligent, and even they may have the perception, thinking and intellectual capacity, just like the “people”.
